The two companies initiated a discussion on the joint development of the next-generation battery for Nissan electric vehicle e-POWER. In addition, the two companies will also discuss the development of an efficient production system ensuring the stable supply capacity of the jointly developed vehicle battery.

Nissan is advancing electrification with focus on electric vehicles and e-POWER technology. Highly praised by customers for its powerful driving performance and quietness, Nissan will expand the award-winning 100% electric motor-driven e-POWER technology globally into the B- and C-segments. Nissan expects to sale more than 1 million electrified units annually by the end of fiscal year 2023.

As a major manufacturer of consumer batteries and batteries for electric vehicles, the company has been deeply engaged in the lithium-ion battery industry for many years and has rich experience. Besides, the company’s research and development technology of lithium-ion battery is in a leading position in the industry worldwide.
