How long will ev batteries last

Increased charging and discharging times can degrade battery performance. In low temperature environments such as winter, battery performance is affected and range may be reduced.

Battery performance itself is key, such as X-NV with 53.6kWh battery, energy density 141Wh/Kg, fast charging 30 minutes from 30% to 80%, 100km power consumption 14.09kW, VE-1 fast charging half an hour to 80%, slow charging 9 hours full.

To extend the battery life, we have to avoid some misunderstandings, don’t always disregard the time to charge, can’t drive for a long time without power, don’t wait for the power to be completely gone before charging, don’t use fast charging every time, and change the habit of slamming on the gas pedal.

Reasonable use of maintenance, the battery can have a long service life. For example, lead-acid battery cycle life is generally less than 300 times, lithium batteries can reach 500 to 600 times. Assuming that each charging cycle supports 80 kilometers of driving, and the intensity of commuting is 16 kilometers/day, the estimated service life of lead-acid batteries is about 4.1 years, while lithium batteries are about 7.5 years. Assuming a commuting intensity of 40 km/day, the estimated service life of the lead-acid battery is about 1.64 years and that of the lithium-ion battery is about 3 years.

How long will ev batteries last?Typical electric vehicle battery life is between 3 and 10 years.

This depends on a number of factors.

First, the type of battery is critical. Like lithium iron phosphate batteries, the cycle charge and discharge times can reach 1500 to 2000 times; lithium ternary batteries are relatively less.

Second, the ambient temperature has an impact, about 20 ℃ is the best operating temperature.

Then, more times of charging and discharging, the electrode active material shedding more, will shorten the life.

Moreover, the charging method is also important, excessive fast charging can not, must be in the normal charging voltage and current charging.

Maintenance can not be less, to avoid excessive discharge and charging, do not use in high temperature environment, on time testing and maintenance.

Like long-life lead-acid battery life of about 1.5 – 2 years, lithium-iron phosphate power battery theoretical life of 7 – 8 years.

During the vehicle warranty period, 4S stores will regularly check the battery performance and recommend replacement if it is poor.

To extend the battery life, you have to control the charging frequency and time, do not overcharge and discharge, do not allow the battery to work in extreme temperatures, regular maintenance checks, replenish the electrolyte in a timely manner, do not use high-power equipment after the engine is turned off, and keep the battery surface clean.

Some car owners reasonable maintenance can extend the use of time, bad driving habits such as often fully charged may shorten the life.
